Established almost fifty years ago, BMD has evolved to become one of Ireland’s most prestigious mechanical engineering companies.
BMD was established in Cork in 1974, and worked with the region’s pharmaceutical cluster as it began to grow.
BMD then entered another key market in 1976, after the discovery of the Kinsale Head offshore gas fields by Marathon Petroleum. And since then, BMD has been a key supplier to the operator of these gas fields.
This experience gave BMD the competence and credibility to expand into other mechanical and process markets, such as manufacturing, semi-conductor, power generation and utilities.

Investment and expansion in Dublin
In 2019 BMD, received investment by Meptagon to provide advanced engineering and construction services to a wider range of customers in Ireland, and BMD opened its new Dublin operation. This was followed by the purchase investment of a state-of-the-art cleanroom fabrication in Dublin.
Today, BMD’s activities cover all aspects of green-field and brown-field mechanical installations, primarily serving the pharmaceutical and gas sectors still, while also supporting the chemical, brewing/distilling, power generation and utility sectors.

Modular projects have been delivered to UK, Denmark, West Africa and Singapore as part of our reach.
